Facebook to Crack Down Ads About Coronavirus Prevention or Cure

It won’t be just ads. We tested it and we they actually temporarily banned our test ad account.

So if you are thinking of taking advantage of the current pandemic, might as well think twice. Facebook will flag and crack you down.

Panic has been on social networks by the rapid spread of Coronavirus around the world. There are others who say that this is going to be the end of the world and that everyone is going to die.

These trends are widely replicated by thousands of users, either as a joke or because there really is fear in people due to the possible contagion.

Facebook then decided to take steps to curb both these viral campaigns and possible scams and hoaxes about the cure and prevention of the virus.

“We’re banning ads and commerce listings selling medical face masks. We’re monitoring COVID19 closely and will make necessary updates to our policies if we see people trying to exploit this public health emergency. We’ll start rolling out this change in the days ahead.” – Rob Leathern, Director of Product Management for Facebook.

In addition, the Facebook stated that it will not only be eliminating misleading contents that are published in profiles, page and company walls, but they will also have policies for the Marketplace, a space in which products can be sold and bought, so that they are not taken advantage of by scammers who promote fake coronavirus prevention services or products.

“Our teams are monitoring the Covid-19 situation closely and will make necessary updates to our policies if we see people trying to exploit this public health emergency,” Rob Leathern.

Facebook also began removing fake content or conspiracy theories that have already been identified by major global and local health organizations, and that could harm people.
